Motion Graphics: Sound of Color

CLICK HERE to view video. Hosted by Sound of Color this is the sound of black and white.
(The musicians—the Raveonettes—were given a color and asked to write music that sounded like the assigned color.) Interesting idea. A lot of new work could come from this kind of thinking. I'm really liking the graphic style of the video as well.

Packaging

Found on Graphis, this is one of the designs featured in the 2008 annual. The information about the studio that produced the work is not legible. But I certainly love where they got their inspiration from—which leads me to comment: too many designers look at other designers work for their only inspiration. It is always appropriate to do more research into the design problem. Don't forget to look into history books, photography, architecture, dictionaries, nature, etc. to help you come up with new design solutions too.

Portfolio: Rebecca Thuss

I am so happy to have run across REBECCA THUS'S portfolio (featured on bloesem). She is a creative director, prop stylist, event/wedding designer, and master crafter. Much of her work is featured in Martha Stewart Magazines. CLICK HERE to see her work. So colorful!

Still Hating

When I first saw the London olympics logo, I was dumbfounded. I thought it was a joke. Or perhaps just a bad version of many and would be thrown out. I find it rather humorous that my conclusion (that the logo is ugly) matches what so many others are thinking as well. I ran across THIS last week and really, really needed to share. (If you aren't aware of what the real logo looks like, Google it.)

Graphis

HERE is a link to Graphis. You will see examples of award winning designs, articles, updates etc. And can also purchase copies of the design annuals, as well as preview several spreads.
